Galvanised steel

I am currently researching unpainted galvanised steel and its uses
on artworks, such as Donald Judd and Richard Wentworth. I would be
interested in hearing from anyone who has
treated/cleaned/restored/replicated any galvanised steel pieces or
from anyone who has experience of this type of material. What sort
of problems were encountered and how were they resolved?
