The Smithsonian Museum of American History has a curator emeritus in
the History of Technology Division who is an expert on elevators.
His name is Bill Worthington and he can be reached at 202-357-1879

collection of trade literature which does include elevators and
quite probably the related flooring companies.  For access to that
