Veloxy (very low oxygen) is a portable, easy to use equipment, which
produce a very low oxygen content environment to disinfest and treat
museum objects and library materials for insects (wood worm, book
worm, etc.) without fumigation with toxic gases (ethylene oxide for
example) or using any insecticide. The technique called anoxic
insect infestation consists to separate oxygen from an air current
and send the remaining gas (mainly nitrogen) into plastics bags
which contain museum objects or library materials. The air condition
inside the plastic bags becomes lethal for the insects and parasites
but is neutral for objects and materials. The Veloxy system is
already used in 10 last years largely in Italy and European
countries and now is available in North America. For more
information please see: <URL:http://www.library-dust.com>.
