The Conservation Awards 2005 Call for Entries Are you completing an exceptional conservation, collections care or digital preservation project? If so, why not apply for a Conservation Award. UKP15,000 for the Award for Conservation UKP10,000 for the NEW Award for Care of Collections UKP10,000 for the Student Conservator of the Year and their training institution UKP5000 for the Digital Preservation Award UKP2000 for the Anna Plowden Trust Award for Research and Innovation in Conservation The Conservation Awards, the UK's premier awards in the conservation field, have now been launched for 2005, their tenth anniversary, with a new sponsor, Sir Paul McCartney. The Awards will be presented at the British Museum on 22 November 2005. Short-listed applicants attract significant publicity, and receive a certificate recognising their achievement at the presentation event. To be eligible for the Award for Conservation or the Award for Care of Collections, a project must have been completed in the UK between 1 July 2003 and 31 January 2005. The Award for Conservation is open to projects focused on the conservation of individual items or collections, of the decorative elements or fixtures associated with a historic building (but not the building itself), or of monuments and sculptures. The Award for Care of Collections, offered this year for the first time, is open to projects focused on improving the conditions in which collections are housed. To be eligible for the Student Conservator of the Year Award, a project may focus on conservation, collections care or research and innovation, and must have been completed as part of a recognised UK training programme or internship, between 1 December 2003 and 31 March 2005. To be eligible for the Digital Preservation Award, a project must demonstrate leadership and advancement in the digital preservation arena and must have been completed by 31 May 2005. To be eligible for the Anna Plowden Trust Award for Research and Innovation, a project must be a completed programme of research or development aimed at furthering the practice of conservation, including production of materials, equipment, systems or techniques for improved conservation and collections care, or for examination, analysis, treatment or monitoring. It must have been completed with a view to possible publication or put on the market in the UK between 1 July 2003 and 31 May 2005. The outcome of all projects submitted must be accessible to the public in the UK.
