Conservator 1 year, with the strong possibility of extension Surrey grade D Surrey County Council (on behalf of English Heritage and Surrey, East and West Sussex museum development services UKP19,122-UKP22,818 * Contribute to the management of diverse collections * Equip people with skills to enhance preservation For this role, you will need: * Conservation qualification and broad range of experience (preferably textiles, archaeology or social history) * Excellent administrative skills * The knowledge, enthusiasm and communication skills to convey the importance of the project to potential partners Work will include: * Survey and audit work * Providing advice to non-specialists * Leading strategic plan development * Drawing up tender documents for conservation work, and monitoring work/signing off. * Devising and delivering training Your work will be three days a week for English Heritage, two days a week for the museum development services. Line management will be by Pat Reynolds of Surrey Museums Consultative Committee (day to day direction for EH by Rowena Willard-Wright). You will work in the museum/stores in the south east (mileage allowance payable), and be based at home (for SMCC) and, preferably, Fort Brockhurst (for EH). Laptop computer will be provided.
