Conservation Technician

    The Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary is seeking a
    part-time conservation technician to perform a variety of tasks
    under the supervision of the conservators in the care of the
    Library's special collections. Responsibilities include
    assisting with rehousing projects, manufacturing protective
    enclosures, encapsulation, assisting with loans and exhibitions,
    and photo documentation.

    Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in an art-related
    field or equivalent work experience and should be familiar with
    the principles of conservation. Experience working with rare
    materials in a library or museum setting is highly desirable.
    Good oral and written communication skills, flexibility, and
    team work are essential. Knowledge of Hebrew is desirable but
    not essential.

    Hours: 10-15 hours per week.
    Salary: Hourly salary commensurate with qualifications and
    experience.

Scanning Technician

    The Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary is seeking a
    part-time technician to perform a variety of tasks scanning in
    various formats of original and reproduced library materials
    using flatbed, transparency, and overhead scanners.
    Responsibility includes creating output files of appropriate
    type, size, and resolution; applying metadata to digitized
    files; storing digitized files into the library's image archive.
    There will be occasional adjusting and color correcting of
    images using Photoshop and other digitization duties as
    assigned.

    Applicant should have a bachelor's degree in a relate field or
    equivalent work experience and should be familiar with handing
    of original documents. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
    (preferably Photoshop CS), understanding of image file formats
    and sizes, strong PC skills and experience with networked
    Windows environment are essential. Working knowledge of Hebrew
    is desirable but not essential.

    Hours: 10-15 hours per week.
    Salary: Hourly salary commensurate with qualifications and
    experience.
