Preventive Conservation Manager Historic Royal Palaces Based at Hampton Court Palace c. UKP31,000 plus bonus Historic Royal Palaces is the registered charity responsible for conserving, maintaining and presenting some of the world's most famous heritage sites, including HM Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace State Apartments, Kew Palace and the Banqueting House, Whitehall. As a forward thinking and high-profile organisation, we can offer an experienced conservation specialist a unique challenge: to help us to maintain some of the world's finest collections and decorative interiors from the 16th to the 19th Centuries. This new role will work across five palaces and call for an ambitious professional who can operate both at a strategic and detailed level, creating the policies, procedures and technical specifications that will drive our long-term conservation plans. Project managing the interior conservation elements of preventive operations and capital scale projects, you will devise and implement strategies that achieve 'best practice', with the support of ten preventive conservators, while acting as our central source of expertise in preventive conservation. We are looking for a strong organiser and communicator: someone who can work closely with and influence colleagues and external organisations as we build a world-class reputation in this relatively new conservation area. We are looking for a graduate with a recognised qualification or equivalent and at least ten years' relevant experience. The proven ability to devise complex conservation programmes in preventive treatment work is essential, together with exceptional people management and communication skills.
