Paid Summer Internship The Vermont Museum and Gallery Alliance (VMGA) is seeking an intern for a 12- week project assisting museums and historical societies throughout Vermont with a variety of collections management related projects. The intern will spend two weeks at six different institutions working on collections management, documentation, or exhibition projects selected by the organization. Duties could include rehousing, cataloging, assessment, inventory, research, exhibit fabrication and installation, or other collections care activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working in museums and education in the areas of collections management, conservation, archives, and/or exhibitions. Preference will be given to candidates currently enrolled in a graduate-level program in museum studies, conservation, or similar field. Post- graduate candidates may also apply. Demonstrated understanding of small museum issues and operation, as well as the ability to work independently, are important. Compensation includes a salary of $3000 plus room and board stipend. The internship includes some travel and the intern must have their own vehicle; mileage will be reimbursed. Project runs from June-August, 2005. Exact start date to be determined.
