Director of Conservation Research and Education Columbia University The Historic Preservation Program in the Graduate School of Architecture Preservation and Planning at Columbia University seeks a senior professional for the position of Director of Conservation Research and Education. The Director will have the following responsibilities: 1. Designing, pursuing funding for, and managing the conservation section of the newly conceived Avery Laboratory. This laboratory will serve as both a teaching and research venue for the Historic Preservation Program and a new materials and design fabrication and testing facility for the Architecture and Planning Programs. 2. Developing curriculum, providing teaching for introductory and advanced courses, and advising and supporting students doing independent studies and theses in Historic Preservation. 3. Pursuing research in architecture conservation and funding for such research both individually and in collaboration with researchers and laboratories within and outside the university. The incumbent should have a Ph.D. in the physical sciences, a demonstrated record of research and publications in conservation, field experience in architecture conservation, a demonstrated ability to collaborate with conservators and scientists, experience with the design and construction of conservation laboratories, teaching experience, and a track record of funding raising.
