Minimum salary (for recent graduate) UKP1990 per month (Euro2890 per
month)

The conservation department at Langelands Museum, Denmark seeks
applicants to cover maternity leave for the textile conservator from
Mar 7-Oct 16, 2005. It may be possible to extend the contract.

The department service 14 regional museums containing mixed
collections and employ 4 full time conservators specialising in
textile, social history/paper, furniture and archaeological
conservation as well as additional staff on fixed term projects.

A recognised qualification in textile conservation or equivalent
such as training in a conservation textile studio and practical
experience is required.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and
committed individual, who can work independently and to deadlines,
is keen to develop existing skills and knowledge as well as
acquiring new ones. It is also essential that the candidate is
interested in working with a range of different museum professional,
and must therefore possess strong interpersonal and organisational
skills in addition to good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities include examination, photographic, digital and
written documentation and remedial conservation of a range of
textile based objects. Preparation of objects for exhibition,
including designing and making mounts. Taking part in general
conservation activities such as environmental monitoring, climate
and pest control, collection surveys and  rehousing, exhibition
design, developing and running workshops for other museum
professionals.

The candidate is required to be able to communicate in English,
German or any of the Nordic languages. A willingness to learn a
little Danish is an advantage.
