I recently read a research aiming to strengthen low-fired earthen structure, situated outdoors. The materials used were 5 per cent Paraloid B-72 solution in toluene and 12 per cent Wacker Silicone 290L solution in mineral turpentine (both as a separate solutions and as a mixture). The mixture appears to have the best strengthening properties of all solutions applied. According to the Wacker information brochure, 290L is also to be used on brick and stone walls. Besides, Wacker Silicones have hydrophobizing effect.
