The Museum of Welsh Life is a 100 acre open-air museum with a Grade
1 Elizabethan Manor House and re-erected buildings from different
parts of Wales.  The Department of Domestic and Rural Collections is
seeking to appoint two Conservation Officers to join its team of
conservators caring for its collections.

Textile conservator

    The successful applicant will be expected to conserve, care for,
    maintain and display the museum's costume and textile
    collections, working closely with departmental curators and
    conservators.

    You should hold a recognised conservation qualification and have
    at least three years experience in a relevant field.

Preventative Conservation Officer (Housekeeping)

    The successful applicant will be expected to establish
    preventive conservation procedures, assess, plan and implement
    the cleaning and conservation of a wide range of artefacts on
    open display in the buildings on site and oversee environmental
    and pest monitoring.  You will also line-manage the Assistant
    Conservation Officer and co-ordinate the training and monitor
    work standards of the cleaning staff.

    Candidates should hold a recognised conservation qualification
    and at least 3 years relevant experience along with a good
    knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and COSHH
    Regulations.

    Post Holders will be encouraged to work towards accredited
    status (PACR) if not already accredited.  The ability to speak
    Welsh, or the committed willingness to learn, would be highly
    desirable for both posts.
