I couldn't tell you how to repair the cylinder but do know you can
purchase an acid-free Wax Cylinder Storage Box from Metal Edge Inc.
(#800-862-2228). These boxes have an inner core foam support which
will at least hold the cylinder together in storage. There is a foam
cushion on the bottom of the box as well as a foam cushion in the
cover. It will store both 4 inch and 6 inch cylinders. Hope this
