On behalf of the organizing committee, we are pleased to announce that the Synchrotron SOLEIL will organize the first COST G8 training school on the synchrotron analysis of ancient materials from the 14th to the 18th of December 2004 in Saint-Aubin (Paris region, France). The training school will aim at providing young scientists working on the analysis of ancient artifacts with an in-depth presentation of the new possibilities offered by synchrotron radiation techniques. Courses will include lectures presenting current challenges regarding the study of ancient metals, ancient pigments and organic materials. Tutorials will aim at combining these two approaches. The number of participants is limited to 25.
