Field Position in Turkey
Kaman Kalehoyuk excavation

The site of Kaman-Kalehoyuk in central Turkey seeks a new Director
of Conservation. Sponsored by the Japanese Institute of Anatolian
Archaeology, the excavation includes Islamic, Phrygian, Hittite, and
Assyrian Trading Colony cultural levels. After 18 years of
excavation, the institute is establishing a permanent facility that
will include conservation, research, and museum display.

The Conservation Director will help establish the permanent
laboratory, as well as coordinate artifact conservation, staffing,
field courses, and research on excavated materials. English is the
official excavation language, although familiarity with Turkish or
Japanese is helpful. The field season is four months each summer,
but the length of stay and salary for this part-time position will
be negotiated with the Institute's Director according to the
conservator's background and availability.

Please email a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and a list of
three professional references, along with additional inquiries to
Glenn Wharton <glenn.wharton [at] nyu__edu>. Applications due by October
17, 2004.
