Internship at Maria Scarpini Painting Conservation Studio

Painting Conservation Studio is seeking an intern for the following
tasks: studio assistant.  The Studio is based in New York City and
works exclusively on paintings, both old masters and modern. The
owner and Head Conservator of the Studio has 20 years experience in
this field and was trained in Italy.

The internship will last 2 to 4 months for 15 hours per week. After
this training period, the internship will be paid. The salary will
be discussed after the internship period, according to the
performance and skills of the intern.

Tasks to perform: Condition reports, photographic documentation of
the work, material research, basic studio cleaning. Part of the time
will be dedicated to cleaning, filling, retouching and relining of
paintings. This part of the internship will be strictly monitored by
the Head Conservator.  The goal of this internship is to form a
person able to assist the Conservator in all the phases of the work.
Requirement: the person must have a basic knowledge of conservation
(although a degree is not necessarily required), good manual skills
and must be extremely driven and focused in conservation.  Some
experience is preferred. Creative people are welcome. Basic computer
work required. Preferred languages: Italian, English. French and
Spanish accepted.
