Conservation projects for volunteers

Does anybody know of a conservation organisation that works as a
charity and utilises the skills and expertise of experienced
conservators and other heritage professionals, to work with
communities around the world. I was thinking of something along the
lines of VSO (voluntary service overseas) but specialising in
conservation.

I trained in the seventies and now I am thinking I would like to use
my skills and experience to work with communities from less
financially developed parts of the world.  I have talked with some
organisations such as VSO but they are more interested in my
educational management experience. I was thinking there must be
others in my situation and would like to hear your suggestions.
