Bristol Museum is searching for a dynamic conservator to maintain
the momentum of an exciting project conserving, re-storing and
re-displaying Bristol's Designated Chinese glass collection, funded
through the Designated Challenge Fund. This project started in
April 2004.

You will work with a wide variety of museum staff and outside
specialists and must enjoy using your considerable communication
skills to forge constructive relationships with them all. You will
work under the supervision of the conservator of antiquities, but
welcome the responsibility of managing your own time and devising
your own solutions to conservation problems.

You will have a degree from a recognised conservation training
programme, or commensurate experience, and ideally two to three
years post training experience. We seek an individual with a
creative and flexible approach to problem solving, along with a
thorough knowledge of historic glass and its conservation.
Experience within a museum work environment will be seen as an
advantage.

Bristol Museums and Art Gallery Service is lead for the Renaissance
in the Regions Phase 1 SW Hub. As such it is currently expanding
its staff structure and developing its public role. In addition, it
has been awarded a major grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund for a
new Museum of Bristol. As assistant conservator you will be part of
a growing and lively conservation department which values colleagues
with a co-operative and positive outlook.
