Exhibitions Conservator
Auckland Museum Tamaki Paenga Hira

Auckland Museum Tamaki Paenga Hira is offering a rare, permanent
position for a qualified, experienced conservator to undertake
conservation of objects for temporary and permanent exhibition. This
is an exciting opportunity to work with the Museum's varied
collections, including world-renowned Maori and Pacific taonga,
during a period of major expansion.

The primary focus of the position is the documentation and treatment
of a wide range collection and loan objects. Exhibitions range from
temporary decorative arts shows to permanent display galleries.
Other key tasks include testing of display materials, design and
production of specialized display mounts and documentation and
packing of collection loans.

Applicants should have a tertiary qualification in objects
conservation and at least 3 years work experience. They need a sound
working knowledge of preventive conservation practice, particularly
those aspects affecting the museum display environment. They also
need excellent communication skills, and an enthusiastic attitude to
team work. They must be familiar with conservation treatment of a
wide range of object materials.
