A unique opportunity to attend a three day course on the traditional
methods of creating Tibetan scroll paintings (thangka) with the
artist Gonkar Gyatso. He has been trained in this unbroken heritage
of sacred painting by renowned master artists at Dharamsala. He is
also a highly skilled and versatile artist of other styles and
techniques. There will be an added opportunity to view rarely seen
thangka in the Wellcome Library.

Learn about and experience:

    Processes involved in preparing an authentic painting surface.

    Special techniques of drawing and painting key elements.

    The significance of traditional iconography.

    Use of colour and the traditional mineral and vegetable
    pigments.
