Morning Session:
Get The Word Out! Effective Business-Building for Conservators

In this half-day workshop, writer and arts maven Hollis Walker
will help you define realistic goals for promoting your
business; show how you can develop a marketing plan for
yourself; demonstrate how to create an effective
publicity/marketing kit and how to use it; and help you
brainstorm fresh ideas for promotion, including generating news
features, using the Net, and more--stopping short of attaching
colored light bulbs to your body and tap-dancing down the
    interstate!

Hollis Walker is a writer specializing in visual arts whose work
has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Ms.
magazine, Art and Auction magazine, Art and Antiques, American
Craft magazine, and in many other regional, national and
international publications. She has worked as an independent
writer since 2000, and prior to that spent nine years at the
daily Santa Fe New Mexican, as a staff writer and eventually as
arts editor, responsible for production of a weekly 100-page
arts magazine. Walker also directed the start-up of a Santa Fe
art gallery and consults in private art collection management.

Afternoon Session:
Using the Web to Promote Your Conservation Business

In this half-day session, Judith Tarrt of ArtCare.com will
demonstrate the functions of the ArtCare web site using
PowerPoint and a live feed and will demonstrate how to set-up a
web space for conservation businesses on ArtCare. If you wish to
have your business used for the demonstration, please bring
before and after photos and/or photos showing the capabilities
of your studio. Judith will focus on the importance of
ArtCare.com for CIPP. Art-Care is a resource site for the Finest
of Fine Art Service Professionals: Conservators, Appraisers, and
other Art Professionals. ArtCare membership is limited to
    Professionals in Private Practice.

Judith Tartt is a paintings conservator in private practice in
Washington, DC. She began ArtCare.com three years ago when she
realized that there was a need for a web-portal for conservators
    in private practice.
