European Trade in Painters' Materials to 1700 Conference, London February 11-12, 2005 A 2 day conference organised by the National Gallery and the Courtauld Institute, will be held in London on 11th and 12th February 2005. The meeting will examine early European trade and trade routes, retail distribution and wholesale trade in painters' materials. Where did painters buy their materials? Who prepared them? What did they cost? Where did they come from and how? These are some of the issues addressed by the speakers (conservators, conservation scientists and historians).
