Pre-primed boards

I am investigating the manufacture history of pre-primed artist
boards composed principally of loosely bound coarse woody fibers and
chips (e.g. chipboard) that are primed and textured to resemble
mounted canvas boards.  Can anyone refer me to individuals or firms
that may have knowledge of such materials?
