Call for papers--Transition metals in paper

From: John Havermans <j.havermans>
Date: Tuesday, June 22, 2004
Final call for papers

Symposium 'Preventive Conservation of Objects Containing Cellulose
Deteriorated by Transition Metals'

Date of the symposium: 17 September 2004
Deadline for abstracts: July 15th 2004

The subject of this symposium is the European Thematic Network
(Transition) Metals in Paper (MIP). This is a project within the
fifth framework programme of the European Commission. An example of
this subject is the phenomenon of ink corrosion, where ink causes
chemical burns in objects such as pen drawings.

The speakers of the Network are researchers, end users and
suppliers. They will present their work in relation to preventive
conservation and ink corrosion. The symposium will be held in the
English language.

Students, restorers and/or researchers wishing to present their work
orally or by a poster in the field of preventive conservation and/or
air quality in archives, libraries and museums are asked to submit
an abstract to the coordinator (j.havermans [at] bouw__tno__nl).

Companies and institutions interested in participation or sponsoring
are asked to contact the organisation.

More news and the full programme will be soon published by
<URL:http://www.bouw.tno.nl> and <URL:http://www.miponline.org>.
