Making of Gossamer Tissue Ascona, Switzerland August 3-5, 2004 Tutor: John Franklin Mowery The centro del bel libro in Ascona (Switzerland) offers a course by the US-american paper conservator Franklin Mowery(Shakespeare Library Washington) in the making of Gossamer Tissue. Below please find a short description of the course. Further information and registration under <URL:http://www.cbl-ascona.ch> This course will show the production of the extra thin Gossamer Tissue with a leaf-caster or a handmade leaf-caster. Gossamer Tissue can be coated with Klucel G for non-aqueous treatments on water sensitive objects. Especially for the partial stabilisation of ink corroded objects. Frank Mowery will also show how to produce the popular "Tear-Guard Paper" with it's ready-to-tear stripes. Participants will work in the group to practise every step of the papermaking. The idea is that the participants make as many sheets as possible to take home.
