Subject: Lecture on preservation science
The Preservation Directorate of the Library of Congress announces the next lecture in its series on Topics in Preservation Science. On Friday, May 28, 2004, Carl Haber (Senior Scientist, Physics Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) will present "Update on Collaborations with the Library of Congress on Reconstruction of Mechanically Recorded Sound by Image Processing." Dr. Haber will describe the status of a collaborative program for compensating damage on media, such as phonograph records, through image processing and analysis. The lecture will be held from 10:30-11:30 am in the Mumford Room, Madison Building, Library of Congress (101 Independence Ave., Washington, DC 20540).
