The mission of the National Maritime Museum is to illustrate for
everyone the importance of the sea, ships, time and the stars, and
their relationship with people.

We are now seeking a dynamic Preventive Conservator to contribute to
the maintenance and implementation of the most appropriate methods
of collection care on display and in store, liaising with colleagues
in collections care, collections management, exhibitions and
facilities management. Reporting to the Display Care Coordination
Manager, and forming part of a team of Conservators, Conservation
Technicians and Assistants, the Preventive Conservator will have
significant responsibility for case design, maintenance of
environmental monitoring systems, interpretation, reporting and
applying the environmental data and pest management. The post holder
will also play a key role in assessing potential loan venues, and
will undertake courier duties.

A degree level qualification or equivalent in conservation or
collection care in a heritage environment is required, along with
three years' relevant experience in the field. Experience in line
managing staff would also be useful. You will be practical,
organised, resourceful and enthusiastic, have a flexible approach to
work and be able to work under pressure either in a team or on
personal initiative.
