Removing commercial spray paint from metal

I am consulting on a large metal object which was "touched up" with
commercial spray paint.  The curators want the spray paint removed,
but do not want to disturb the original enamel paint surface below
it.  Can anyone point me towards solvent systems that meet these
criteria so I can run some tests?
