Workshop on Duplication by Traditional Photographic and Digital Methods National Library of Australia, Canberra, Australia July 12-17, 2004 This is an announcement of the fourth and final workshop in a series of photographic conservation and preservation workshops funded by the Getty Grant Program and supported by PHOTON, the special interest group for the Australian Institute for Conservation of Cultural Materials (AICCM). This workshop will include a basic introduction to the techniques used to duplicate photographic materials using both analogue and digital methods followed by more advanced specialised techniques for copying fragile or deteriorated photographic materials. A wide rang of topics will be covered relating to the production and storage of preservation duplicates, for both traditional and digital images, and will include issues relating to image standards, sensitometry, equipment calibration and colour management. The workshop will include a series of lectures, an expert panel discussions, and a trade show. The workshop is aimed at a wide audience of professionals from archives, museums, libraries in the public, private and commercial sector who are responsible for the management of photographic collections. The workshop will be presented by Dr Frey, Assistant Professor at the School of Print Media, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), New York, and Michael Hager, Director of Museum Photographics Inc., Rochester, New York. The workshop will be held at the National Library of Australia, Canberra, Australia from July 12-17, 2004 with daily sessions from 8:30am to 5pm.
