Beeswax and needlework

Another thought about the use of beeswax on thread: one of my
bookbinding students who is also a surgeon pointed out that surgeons
have historically used beeswax on sutures due to its anti-bacterial
properties. I, therefore, still use a very light coating of beeswax
on my thread.
