Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC)

The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC), located in
Andover, Massachusetts, north of Boston, is offering a one year
advanced internship in its paper conservation laboratory. The
position will be supported by a grant from the Samuel H. Kress
Foundation. It offers an opportunity to spend a concentrated amount
of time at the bench in a spacious laboratory with highly skilled
and friendly colleagues. The position will begin in August or
September 2004.

The successful candidate will treat a variety of paper materials
including manuscripts, maps, printed materials, architectural plans,
and works of art on paper. He or she should have a degree from a
graduate level conservation training program or have equivalent
experience. Third year interns from U.S. graduate programs will be
considered. Persons who are not U. S. citizens may apply but must be
legally qualified to work in the U.S. We seek a person who is
energetic, flexible, and productive with a strong interest in
hands-on work. Good communication skills are important.

The salary will be commensurate with experience. Compensation will
include funding for travel and research to supplement the training
