Chemiluminescence and Paper Stability Evaluation workshop

The 5th Framework Papylum project <URL:http://papylum.uni-lj.si/>
consortium will organise the Chemiluminescence and Paper Stability
Evaluation workshop on November 17, 2004 as part of the event
"Durability of paper and writing" <URL:http://paperdurability.org/>.

At the workshop, project results of practical importance will be
presented. The workshop will consist of lectures (1/2 day) and of
practical experimental work (1/2 day).

During the theoretical part of the workshop, topics such as
thermo-oxidative and photo-oxidative degradation of cellulose and
paper will be discussed, and guidelines for thermal and photo-ageing
experiments will be presented. Guidelines for deacidification of
real paper samples will be discussed including estimations of
durability at room temperature (i.e. in real situations).

During the practical part, experiments will be conducted in small
groups of 3-4 participants. The new chemiluminometric instrument
will be presented. Other techniques and methods for evaluation of
paper degradation will be practically presented and discussed.
During the practical exercises, only a limited number of
participants are foreseen (20).
