Stabilisation of Iron Gall Ink Containing Paper Ljubljana, Slovenia November 19-20, 2004 This workshop will present the results of the EC-funded Fifth framework project InkCor--Stabilisation of Iron Gall Ink Containing Paper. The workshop will be organised in Ljubljana, Slovenia on November 19-20, 2004 as part of the event "Durability of paper and writing"<http://paperdurability.org/>. The workshop will consist of lectures as well as practical demonstrations. Lectures will focus on all aspects of iron gall ink corrosion, with special emphasis on instrumental techniques for analysis of iron gall ink components, factors affecting corrosivity of the inks, historical iron gall ink and paper manufacture, etc. Some of the achievements, presented during practical demonstrations will be: * Art Technological Sources database, containing iron gall ink recipes from historical sources * Ink corrosion database, containing visual assessment of numerous historical artefacts. It will aid conservators in description and documentation of the documents * Simple identification tests for iron and copper, which will enable conservators to identify the corrosive inks * Aqueous and non-aqueous methods for stabilisation of iron gall ink containing paper.
