    We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the
    Conservation Division's Handling and Transport Team during the
    John Moores 23 Exhibition. Duties will include the handling,
    packing, movement and hanging of works of art both from the JM23
    exhibition and National Museums Liverpool's collections.

Handling and Transport Technician

Fixed Term Contract until January 28, 2005

    National Museums Liverpool is recruiting a Handling and
    Transport Technician to work with a team of technicians in the
    handling, packing, movement, de-framing and hanging of works of
    art and objects in the course of their display or storage and
    the accurate completion of related documentation. You will
    undertake responsibility for the care and security of all
    objects and works of art in relation to their collection,
    transportation and delivery, which may on occasion involve
    overnight stays away from home. You will carry out loading,
    driving and first line maintenance and cleaning of National
    Museums Liverpool's vehicles.  You will possess a full clean
    driving licence and have experience of driving a 7.5 tonne
    vehicle.

To become a member of the Handling and Transport team you should
possess 5 GCSE's or equivalent, experience of handling decorative or
fine art items during the course of their movement, storage and
display would be an advantage.  You will have a working knowledge of
health and safety regulations and knowledge of the use of lifting
and handling equipment. Good communication and organisational skills
are essential, as is the ability to work to tight deadlines and be a
team player.
