2004-05 Advanced Internship in Object Conservation
Peabody Museum

The Conservation Department of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and
Ethnology <URL:http://www.peabody.harvard.edu/conservation> is
offering a one-year conservation internship position beginning in
September 2004.

The internship will focus on the documentation, condition
assessment, stabilization/treatment, and/or rehousing of a materials
from a variety of cultures with special focus on the Pacific Rim.
Independent study and research is encouraged, and the resources of
the University will be available as needed.  The intern will have an
opportunity to participate in other museum-wide preservation
activities during the year.

Applicant Qualifications: Applicants who are recent graduates of a
recognized conservation training program or have equivalent training
and experience, and who have an interest in object conservation, are
eligible to apply.

Stipends and Benefits: The intern will receive a stipend of $28,000
and $2,000 for travel and research support, as well as vacation and
health insurance benefits. Access to the University library system,
athletic facilities, and free admission to museums throughout the
region is also available.

no later than February March 1, 2004.  No application materials are
to be sent via email. Selected applicants will be invited for an
on-site interview in early March and asked to submit a portfolio of
