Position at Pitt Rivers Museum

From: Sue Brooks <sue.brooks>
Date: Monday, January 12, 2004
Conservator [Technical Grade E]
Department of Conservation
Pitt Rivers Museum
University of Oxford
Salary Scale: UKP19,042-UKP21,469

The Pitt Rivers Museum is offering an excellent opportunity for a
qualified and experienced individual to assist with the conservation
of artefacts from ethnographic and historical sources. The Museum
has designated status and collections of international importance.
The post is available for three years in the first instance

The successful candidate will have a recognised qualification in
conservation, with particular emphasis on archaeology and metal
conservation, and wide range of relevant experience. Other key
attributes are: a knowledge of environmental control processes in
conservation, proven ability to meet deadlines, enthusiasm and a
flexible approach to work; a full driving licence would be an
advantage. The post offers the opportunity to become involved in
the long-term development plans for the reserve collections.

Travel expenses within the UK only, will be paid. The requirements
of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 make it extremely unlikely
that we would be able to obtain work permit for this post. Therefore
it is anticipated that candidates will be able to produce evidence
of eligibility to work in the EC.
