The First MIP symposium

MIP is a European Thematic Network started in March 2003. The aim of
the network is to disseminate results from research and application
related transition Metals in Paper and also in other
(ligno)cellulose based materials (for example iron gall ink
corrosion). The official members have formed four theme groups and
will have regularly technical meetings and are now including a
one-day symposium open for scientist, suppliers and end users. More
information about MIP can be found at
<URL:http://www.miponline.org>. This symposium will be in Spain, and
is therefore recommended for interested persons in Spain, Portugal
and other countries nearby.

The aims are

    *   To present selected work performed by member of the MIP
        thematic network

    *   To present selected problems in the field of conservation,
        research and preservation related to the aim of the MIP
        thematic network

    *   To have a general discussion in order to define knowledge
        gaps and/or to answer your urgent questions related to the
        subject.

The one-day Symposium will be held at Museu Moli paperer de
Capellades, Pau Casals, s/n 08786 Capellades.

The symposium language is English.

Short tentative programme

    09:00-09:30 Registration
    09:30-13:00 Morning session by MIP members and EU related
                projects
    13:00-14:00 Lunch break
    14:00-17:00 Presentations by invited speakers/local speakers (*)
    17:00-18:00 Forum and general discussion
    18:00-19:00 Informal drink

There is a possibility for poster and/or oral presentation. Please
do send the coordinator an abstract (maximum 200 words) if you want
to present your work, to discuss your problems etc. related to the
MIP thematic network. The deadline for the abstract is January 21,
2004. Depending on the amount of papers, a selection shall be made
due to the limit of time. Send your paper to info [at] miponline__org.

Specific presentation related to your question The MIP members are
willing to include special presentations, related to the subject you
want to hear. So please submit your question or suggestion as soon
as possible to the coordinator via e-mail <j.Havermans [at] bouw__tno__nl>.

Registration fee will be only euro 50 for attending this day. This
includes a drink in the breaks and a lunch. Payments can be done at
location (cash only!). Please note, that in case of no-show, your
fee should be paid afterwards by e.g. bank transfer. Any additional
costs for no-show are for the registrant.
