Subject: UKIC Historic Interiors Section
This new section of the United Kingdom Institute for Conservation <URL:http://www.ukic.org.uk> was created in 2001 in response to the unique challenges involved in the conservation of historic interiors. Major architectural projects often require a wide range of conservation specialists, working as a team to maintain the highest museum standards in often difficult conditions. The section has already proved itself a forum for communication and problem solving between a disparate range of professionals including conservators, architects, surveyors, consultants and curators. The post prints for the recent inaugural conference ' The Historic Interior Under Threat' will soon be available and the section also organises topical visits, seminars and meetings. Forthcoming events include: A study day in conjunction with the Textile Section to include papers on the Conservation of the Rennie MacKintosh Interior at 78 Derngate, Northampton. A study day at Brodsworth Hall on the theme of 'Conserving Decay' A Grand Costume Dinner to be held at the Georgian Group Headquarters,London.
