Industrial and Land Transport Conservator National Museums Liverpool Salary UKP15,750 - UKP18,370 REF: 2003/114 National Museums Liverpool is a unique organisation with responsibilities both as a major national museum group, and as a regional and local museums service for people in Liverpool and the North West. As the successful candidate you will undertake the care, conservation and restoration of objects from National Museums Liverpool Industrial and Land Transport collections and related objects including the structure of metal ships and related components where necessary. Duties will include recording methods and sequences of treatments to objects from the collections, building up historical data and assisting in the handling, movement and cleaning of objects in the collections. You will have 5 GCSE's or equivalent. A qualification in industrial object conservation or in a mechanical engineering related discipline is desirable. Knowledge and experience of the care and maintenance of land transport vehicles and the structures and propulsion units of traditional and modern road vehicles is essential, as is experience in machining and a broad knowledge of mechanical engineering techniques. Knowledge of the history and development of land transport vehicles would be an advantage. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is January 15, 2004.
