We are looking for two new members of staff, to fill the posts of
Senior Conservator and Conservator, to start Spring 2004.

Our work covers bronze, lead, zinc and electrotype sculpture; modern
and contemporary art; historic lighting; gold and silver; jewellery;
fine ironwork; arms and armour; ecclesiastical metalwork; casting
and replication; gilding; consultancy and maintenance. Our
conservators work throughout the UK and abroad. Our clients include
the National Trust, English Heritage and the Royal Collection as
well as most major museums, art galleries, city councils,
architects, auction houses and private collectors. Established 1982.

Hours: In general, 9:30 - 6, Monday to Friday. You will be paid your
normal hourly rate for any extra hours required. Holidays: 20 days
per year plus public bank holidays

Job Description 1: Senior Metalwork Conservator Salary: UKP 20,000 -
UKP 26,000, depending on experience

    Requirements:

        A nationally recognised conservation qualification or
        equivalent.

        At least two years9 post qualification experience.

        A broad range of practical metalworking skills.

        Experience of managing conservation projects, particularly
        on large-scale monuments.

        A proven knowledge of Health and Safety documentation and
        implementation.

        The ability to produce detailed reports and estimates on a
        wide range of sculpture and decorative arts metalwork.

        A working knowledge of lifting and moving large objects.

        An understanding of business practice and the pressures of a
        commercial environment.

        The ability to understand and complete tender applications.

        The capability to undertake practical work to a high
        standard.

        Strong management, organisational and planning abilities.

        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

        A clean driving license, a head for heights and adequate
        physical strength and agility.

        A flexible attitude and an enthusiasm for working as part of
        a team.

        A positive outlook and the ability to maintain a sense of
        humour under pressure.

    You will be part of a small team working on a large range of
    objects both in the studio and on site, and occasionally abroad.
    You will also be encouraged to be innovative and play a
    significant role developing the business opportunities of the
    studio.

Job Description 2: Metalwork Conservator
Salary: UKP 15,000 - UKP 18,000, depending on experience

    Requirements:

        A nationally recognised conservation qualification or
        equivalent.

        A broad range of practical metalworking skills.

        An understanding of Health and Safety documentation and
        implementation

        The ability to write detailed reports on a wide range of
        sculpture and decorative arts metalwork.

        Experience of lifting and moving large objects

        The capability to undertake practical work to a high
        standard

        Strong organisational and planning abilities

        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

        An ambition for constant learning, and the development of
        your own skills and experience in order to further your
        position.

        A clean driving license, a head for heights and adequate
        physical strength and agility,

        A flexible attitude and an enthusiasm for working as part of
        a team.

        A positive outlook and the ability to maintain a sense of
        humour under pressure.

    You will be part of a small team working on a large range of
    objects both in the studio and on site, and occasionally abroad.
