Full time, permanent position, 37 hours p.w.

Based at Canterbury Cathedral Archives.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified and experienced
conservator to be part of our small, yet busy team, to work on

In accordance with the partnership agreement, you will carry out

Maidstone and the East Kent Archives Centre near Dover, and keep
accurate documentation of all historic information and treatments.

The items requiring conservation and preservation range from
Anglo-Saxon charters, funerary vestments, glass plate negatives,
photographs and seals to early printed books and modern local
history resources.

You will also be required to monitor and record environmental
conditions, prepare and mount material for exhibition, make boxes
for fragile items and advise on best practice for a wide range of
preservation concerns, including handling and storage issues.

You will hold a recognised qualification in conservation or
bookbinding and have four years' practical, post-qualification
experience of paper, parchment and book conservation, with fine
binding and gold finishing skills an advantage. Good team working
skills, an ability to work independently and basic computer literacy
are also essential requirements.
