The Graduate Institute Conservation of Cultural Relics at the Tainan
National College of the Arts in Taiwan is seeking per February 1,
2004, an enthusiastic, well organized instructor in the field of
wooden objects conservation.  Candidates with an official degree in
conservation and a minimum of nine years conservation experience in
a recognized institution are preferred.  This is a full time
position, with a paid one month lecture free period during Chinese
new year and a paid three month summer recess.

The main responsibilities for this exciting position are instructing
graduate students in the theoretical, as well as the practical,
aspects of wooden objects conservation.  The range of wooden objects
includes, but is not limited to: wooden household objects, Buddhist
sculpture, furniture, architectural fragments, folk art objects,
wooden toys, etc.  The successful candidate will be appointed as
full time instructor and is expected to teach between 8 to 10.5
credit points per week in their field of expertise, as well as
lecture a few general conservation courses.  Classes may be taught
in English.  Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese would be helpful but is
not required. Research and scholarly activities will be encouraged
and supported.  He/she is also expected to actively take part in
departmental and school wide faculty committee meetings.

The successful candidate will be appointed as either Assistant
Professor, Associate Professor, or with a full Professor title,
depending on academic degree and years of practical conservation
experience. Compensation is determined by title according to
Government regulations for national academic institutions.  The
