Tate's conservation department, is responsible for the technical
investigation, conservation and restoration of works of art in the
Collection and Tate's care.

Painting Conservator
Salary: UKP21,000 pro rata * Maternity Cover

    This maternity cover role focuses on Tate Modern exhibitions and
    displays, and on the processing of new acquisitions. Advising on
    display requirements, you will examine and record the condition
    of particular paintings. You will then carry out any practical
    treatment required to make paintings fit for display and loan.
    When core activities allow, you may also have the opportunity to
    assist with research projects.

    You must be educated to degree level with a recognised post
    graduate qualification in the conservation of easel paintings.
    In addition to this we expect you to have at least three years'
    relevant experience after training. You will have strong
    communication and organisational skills, along with the ability
    to work both independently and as part of a team. You should be
    computer literate and able to use basic Word and Excel packages.

Sculpture Conservator
Salary: UKP21,000 per annum

    This position in our Sculpture Conservation team is an
    opportunity to use your experience to examine, restore and
    document sculptures in a wide range of media in our permanent
    collection, as well as acquisitions and works on loan. You'll
    also undertake research into art and conservation techniques and
    develop your professional expertise in this field.

    You will hold a recognised postgraduate qualification or
    equivalent training in sculpture conservation and have at least
    three years' post training experience. Organisational,
    communication and analytical skills are imperative in order to
    work across the range of Tate projects you will encounter. The
    ability to work independently on conservation treatments will
    complement your knowledge of environmental monitoring and the
    transport of art works. You will also have basic word processing
    and IT skills. Ref. 3094/CR

BP Sculpture Conservation Intern
Salary: UKP16,600 per annum

    BP is supporting a two year internship in the conservation of
    modern sculpture at Tate. You will carry out supervised
    treatments on a wide range of materials and gain experience in
    all aspects of sculpture conservation, including condition
    checking and installation of exhibitions, loans, packing and
    storage of sculpture.

    A recognised postgraduate qualification in sculpture
    conservation or equivalent training is a must, as is experience
    of assessing, treating and documenting relevant works. You will
    also need to be computer literate and have a flexible approach
    to your work. Ref. 3093/CR
