Microcrystalline wax and marble

From: Berenice Humphreys <bc.humphreys>

I was wondering if any conservators have much experience or
knowledge on the use of microcrystalline wax as a protective coating
on *external* marble sculpture. Does anyone know about its
longevity, does it deteriorate to the detriment of the marble, does
it discolour under UV light? Are there any other commonly used
methods to protect external marble from weathering, biological
attack and/or graffiti?

If anyone knows of any papers on the subject or has experience
themselves, I would be most grateful.
