This inquiry and subsequent responses prompts me to ask the following. Developments in spray application equipment have introduced High Pressure Low Volume (HVLP) systems that can replace traditional Low Volume High Pressure (LVHP) systems. One advantage of an HVLP system is the greatly reduced air pressure through the spray gun. Can the cfm of exhaust and make-up air within a new HVLP equipped spray booth be safely reduced from traditional requirements? That is while remaining compliant with local building codes.
