    West Dean College was asked by a consortium of museums to act as
    a training provider to establish opportunities for them to
    develop more comprehensive and ethical conservation approaches.
    We are pleased to be able to offer places to conservators
    involved in this field.

Feb 1-6, 2004 The Conservation of Archaeological Ceramics
Course Leader: Pat Jackson

    This course aims to bring together those involved in the care,
    interpretation and treatment of excavated ceramics, and offers
    practical experience for conservators wishing to learn new
    techniques or re-establish skills in an archaeological
    context.There is plenty of opportunity to share concerns in a
    setting of workshop-based activities and demonstrations. A visit
    to the post-excavation unit at Southampton University is
    included.

    Offers participants guidance and practice in established methods
    of handling, packing, storage and display of paintings and

Building Conservation Masterclass at West Dean College

Feb 24-27, 2004 Conservation and Repair of Architectural Metalwork
Course Leader: Bill Martin

    The course deals with structural metalwork as well as decorative
    features and statuary, looking at condition assessments and
    analyses. Latest cleaning and repair techniques will be
    demonstrated.
