Salary range: $29,700-$52,100. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History (SNOMNH) seeks a conservator to join its growing professional staff. Housed in a new 195,000-square-foot-facility, the museum serves as both the state museum of natural history and as one of two campus museums at Oklahoma's flagship research university. Numbering over 5 million specimens, the museum's collections span the fields of archaeology, ethnography, paleontology, and zoology. One of the nation's largest university museums, SNOMNH's research activities are worldwide in scope and the museum has an active program of exhibition, educational outreach, and public programming. Reporting to the associate director of collections and research, the conservator will coordinate conservation activities across the museum's 13 curatorial divisions, as well as its exhibitions program. We seek an energetic museum professional who has completed graduate training in a recognized conservation program and who is prepared to inaugurate a new conservation program within a multidisciplinary natural history museum context. Candidates should possess generalist training or a background in conservation specialties appropriate to the museum's collections. Hiring is contingent upon background check.
