I am posting this announcement on behalf of a colleague

Curator/Archivist II (To Serve as Conservator)
Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History
    Norman OK
    Job requisition #10-020N.
    Salary range: $29,700-$52,100.

The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History (SNOMNH) seeks
a conservator to join its growing professional staff. Housed in
a new 195,000-square-foot-facility, the museum serves as both
the state museum of natural history and as one of two campus
museums at Oklahoma's flagship research university. Numbering
over 5 million specimens, the museum's collections span the
fields of archaeology, ethnography, paleontology, and zoology.
One of the nation's largest university museums, SNOMNH's
research activities are worldwide in scope and the museum has an
active program of exhibition, educational outreach, and public
programming. Interested candidates may learn more about the
museum at <URL:http://www.snomnh.ou.edu/> and the University of
    Oklahoma (OU) at <URL:http://www.ou.edu/>.

Reporting to the associate director of collections and research,
the conservator will coordinate conservation activities across
the museum's 13 curatorial divisions, as well as its exhibitions
program. We seek an energetic museum professional who has
completed graduate training in a recognized conservation program
and who is prepared to inaugurate a new conservation program
within a multidisciplinary natural history museum context.
Candidates should possess generalist training or a background in
conservation specialties appropriate to the museum's
collections. Hiring is contingent upon background check. Salary
and benefits are competitive, and the Norman-Oklahoma City area
offers an excellent quality of life.

Applicants must submit an OU job application to:

        Office of Human Resources
        905 Asp Ave., Rm. 205
        Norman OK 73019

Refer to job requisition #10-020N in all correspondence.

With this application, also send a resume, three letters of
reference, and a cover letter addressing training and experience
as they relate to natural history collections. Position open
until filled. For further information on this or other OU job
opportunities, please call 405/325-1826, TDD 405/325-5529, or

application for position(s) become the property of OU. Deadlines
are subject to change without notice. OU is an equal
opportunity, affirmative action employer. We encourage women and
minorities to apply. Review of applicants will begin Dec. 8,
2003, and continue until the position is filled.
