The Institute of Paper Conservation wishes to announce the
publication of volume 27 of The Paper Conservator, the annual
refereed journal specializing in the preservation and conservation
of library, archive and fine art materials on paper.

Volume 27 contains much of interest to conservators with articles on
rehousing print collections at The British Museum, preparing archive
materials for microfilming/digitization and an investigation into
Laponite residues on paper and parchment. Two case studies are also
featured, one on conservation of early playing cards in Malta and
another on the use of a new technique to support fragile leather on
a book spine. Curators, registrars and conservators involved in
exhibitions will be interested in articles arising from the
conference 'Part and Parcel of the Job' on travelling exhibitions,
courier training and blockbuster loans-in exhibitions. The Shorter
Notices section contains a brief report on documentation at the
National Archives. Volume 27 also reintroduces a Book Reviews
section in which four major publications in conservation and paper
studies are reviewed.

A complete list of contents of The Paper Conservator, volume 27, may
be seen at <URL:http://www.lib.ox.ac.uk/ipc-chantry/>. Subscription
to The Paper Conservator is by membership of the Institute of Paper
Conservation. Membership applications and requests for current and
back issues of The Paper Conservator and other IPC publications
should be sent to information [at] ipc__org__uk.

The Institute of Paper Conservation, through its journal, seeks to
provide an international forum for the dissemination and exchange of
information and research on all aspects of paper conservation. The
Paper Conservator welcomes original contributions to the literature
of conservation and proposals may be sent electronically to the
Editor <jane.eagan [at] magd__ox__ac__uk>.
