Symposium and final presentation of the EU-Project Paper Restoration using Laser Technology The Hague, Science Museum MUSEON November 28, 2003 The symposium venue is very well located in The Hague (The Netherlands) and just around the corner there is the Golden Tulip Bell Air Hotel. Registration and conference fee shall be announced in our second call. Aim of the symposium: To provide the end-users, policy makers and other interested parties from the field of conservation of cultural heritage insights and conclusions on the application of laser technology as a novel innovative conservation tool for paper cleaning. The EU project PaReLa (Paper Restoration using Laser Technology) has as main objective the development of a laser cleaning system suitable for accurate and safe restoration of paper objects. This cooperative research project was co-funded by the European Commission, Community Research under the Fifth Framework programme, Energy - Environment and Sustainable Development, "City of Tomorrow and Cultural Heritage" (CRAFT contract number EVK4CT-2000-30002). The work was carried out from September 2001 until November 2003 by a consortium consisting of four scientific research institutes and ten Small Medium Enterprises (SME's) like conservation workshops.
