Date: Thursday, October 23, 2003
Symposium and final presentation of the EU-Project Paper Restoration
using Laser Technology
The Hague, Science Museum MUSEON
November 28, 2003

The symposium venue is very well located in The Hague (The
Netherlands) and just around the corner there is the Golden Tulip
Bell Air Hotel. Registration and conference fee shall be announced
in our second call.

Aim of the symposium: To provide the end-users, policy makers and
other interested parties from the field of conservation of cultural
heritage insights and conclusions on the application of laser
technology as a novel innovative conservation tool for paper
cleaning.

The EU project PaReLa (Paper Restoration using Laser Technology) has
as main objective the development of a laser cleaning system
suitable for accurate and safe restoration of paper objects. This
cooperative research project was co-funded by the European
Commission, Community Research under the Fifth Framework programme,
Energy - Environment and Sustainable Development, "City of Tomorrow
and Cultural Heritage" (CRAFT contract number EVK4CT-2000-30002).
The work was carried out from September 2001 until November 2003 by
a consortium consisting of four scientific research institutes and
ten Small Medium Enterprises (SME's) like conservation workshops.
