Conservation fellowship in Stained Glass
Historic Scotland

Historic Scotland Scottish Conservation Bureau
<URL:http://www.historic-scotland.gov.uk> in conjunction with
Cannon-MacInnes of Glasgow is offering a two-year Fellowship in the
conservation and restoration of stained glass from 2003-2005. Annual
stipend is UKP14,500, with annual travel and study allowance of
UKP1500. The Fellowship will be based in the studios of Linda Cannon
and Rab MacInnes, and on-site at various locations around Scotland.
The aim of the programme is primarily to develop hands-on craft
skills in the conservation of stained glass, but there will also be
the opportunity for theory training and study. The scheme is
directly aligned with Historic Scotland's stated aim to raise the
standard of conservation practice among owners, trade and
professional groups.

The programme provides an opportunity for tradesmen and women or
those from a conservation background to extend their existing craft
skills to encompass the specialist skills and understanding required
for conservation works to historic and traditional stained glass.
Applicants do not necessarily have to have direct experience in this
field, but should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for stained
glass conservation and a high level of craft potential; a further
key factor in the selection process is the applicant's commitment to
working in Scotland. The successful candidate will be required to
work at height.

It is anticipated that the Fellowship will start in
November/December 2003. Apply by letter to the address below
enclosing a Curriculum Vitf with the names and addresses of two
referees familiar with the applicant's practical skills; applicants
must also provide a separate 200-300 word statement of their
interest in and commitment to the conservation of historic buildings
and interiors.
